My Experiences With The Different Teeth Whitening Systems

I have always had teeth whose color tended more towards yellow than ivory or white. My parents and siblings also have teeth of a similar shade and it didn’t used to bother me while growing up, but when I started working in PR, I realized that yellow teeth are seen as unattractive and that I would have to do something to make mine look whiter and brighter. I tried a bunch of methods and remedies for whitening the teeth and found the system that worked best for me, and hopefully what I went through will be of some help to you.

 

The first method I tried was teeth whitening strips, simply because I’ve seen quite a lot of advertisements about it on magazines and TV. I specifically chose a set that was marked for sensitive teeth, and although my teeth weren’t sensitive at all, I didn’t want to risk harming them unnecessarily. The strips stayed put and were nearly invisible, but I did experience some irritation on my gums and felt them tingling within two to three minutes after putting the strips on. This frightened me and I gave the set to my brother, who didn’t experience any sensitivity at all and really liked the results. The teeth whitening strips were effective, even though I only used two, but I wasn’t willing to risk irritating my gums again.

 

I turned next to at-home laser teeth whitening devices, and the one most recommended to me was Zoom. The kit consisted of a special solution that would be placed on the teeth and a device whose light emission helps the solution penetrate the surface of my teeth and make them whiter. The Zoom teeth whitening cost was a bit high, but to my disappointment I saw little difference in my teeth, although I made a point of using it more than three months after the whitening strips, when my teeth were slowly going back to their normal shade.

 

The cost of the Zoom teeth whitening kit left me looking for any natural remedies I could try, and I turned to licorice, baking soda, and hydrogen peroxide. Chewing on licorice root was strange but it definitely made my mouth feel fresher. Baking soda works well as toothpaste, but in my opinion hydrogen peroxide is the best natural remedy for teeth whitening. This is also why most dental products contain peroxide in their solutions. Rinsing my mouth twice a week with a mixture of half a cup of water and a quarter cup of hydrogen peroxide gave my teeth all the brightness they need, and lucky for me, it is also way cheaper than whitening strips and at-home kits. Try hydrogen peroxide for yourself, and you will see how home remedies aren’t just more practical, they may also be more effective too.
